Florabank Introductory Seed Collection Training for Communities in Landscapes

Greening Australia's Florabank  held some introductory training workshops for people from community groups, landholders and others interested in native seed collection to restore box-gum grassy woodlands.  These one-day workshops were supported by Communities in Landscapes, through funding from the Australian Government's Caring for our Country.  The workshop leaders were experienced seed collectors from Greening Australia NSW and Greening Australia Capital Region.

The workshops were held both inside and out in the field where you can see Box-Gum Grassy Woodland species and learn about how to collect seed for restoration of this threatened vegetation community.  We also covered permit requirements and best practice seed collection principles.

Two workshops were held in 2010:

  • Parkes NSW  - December 8 2010
  • Yass NSW  - December 14 2010

Further workshops were held in 2011.

  • Bathurst NSW - March 2011
  • Wellington NSW - March 2011
  • Wagga Wagga NSW - March 2011
